Good afternoon!
I have 2 questions that I’ve been struggling with:
What is the best way to record sides if you have no other person / scene partner with whom to record? When the only option is to send in a monologue (no sides available), what is the best type, length, emotion, etc.? I don’t want to keep sending something that is the entire reason I get passed on. Thanks so much!!
Nikki ~ Aspiring actor ~ Houston, TX
Hi Nikki.
I’m so sorry that you’re not finding another person to read with you when you have to self-tape. It’s unfortunate because it needs to read exactly like the scene you were given. The person feeding you the dialogue doesn’t have to be an actor. In fact, they should take two giant steps back from the camera and hardly be heard because you’re the one being featured. You need to have someone do it with you – no exceptions. I have to say, if it doesn’t look like you’re on the playing field, you will be passed on. I’m sure you can find someone to help. It’s best not to send if it’s not done according to the speculations.

Hello Amy, my name is Habila Ibrahim Abel from Nigeria.
I have this great feeling and dreams of becoming a Great actor someday, but I have been applying and looking for Auditions but even at that I don’t get called for any. Please is there something I need to do that will attract casting directors and producer to give me a chance? Thanks
Habila I Abel

Hello Habila from Nigeria.
All I can say is that you need to learn the business to be in the business. Feel free to learn from my business site for actors http://tltaccess.com and do all the assignments and watch all the business videos and coaching. No one will take you seriously when you only have 1 shoe in your shoe store. Get that product rolling and then they will give you a chance. Until that time, you are in big time development.

Hi Amy.
My name is Nicholas. I am 19 years old and have a passion for acting. I do have past training experience and I have done some theatre work with my university. I live in Leeds now, and I guess I am just writing this to get some advice. Where do I start? How do I get an agent? How do I get the opportunity to do more and more auditions? Should I move to LA?
Best Wishes and hope to hear from you soon Amy
Regards,
Nicholas

Hi Nicholas.
Book acting jobs and build your resume and your demo reel before you move here. Make sure you save up at least 3 years worth of money and learn the acting business before you come. If you come with a comprehensive package then you will save yourself a lot of time and money. You can’t get an agent worthy of you if your talent is A+, but your package is C-.  Match your talent with your business package and people are sure to take notice. Good luck on your journey! Hope to be welcoming you to LA LA Land soon. In the meantime, learn the craft from my courses online – use the promo code Lyndon15 to get 15% off. https://vimeo.com/ondemand/thelyndontechnique
